CHCK called it. PSA confirmed it.

Eight cards graded on CHCK, then slabbed by PSA months later. Seven exact, one half a grade. What the receipts say, and what the fee and the wait cost you.

CHCK called it. PSA confirmed it.

Over the last three weeks we've been posting the same kind of receipt on X: a card CHCK graded from two photos, and the grade PSA gave the same card months later.

Here is every one of them so far, in one place.

The scoreboard

  • Jaxson Dart, 2025 Panini Mosaic Center Stage Blue: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Cameron Ward, 2022 Panini Phoenix All-American Autographs Black: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Edgardo Henriquez, Rookie Auto Aqua Wave /199: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Adael Amador: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Spencer Schwellenbach: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Darren Baker: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Rhett Lowder: CHCK 9, PSA 9
  • Brant Hurter, 2025 Topps Chrome Rookie Auto: CHCK 9.5, PSA 10

Seven exact. One off by half a grade, and in the collector's favor.

None of these are hindsight. Each card was run through CHCK before it went in the box, and the CHCK certificate was already public when the PSA slab came back. The latest pair is on X.

What "close" means across thousands of cards

Eight cards is a small sample and it would be easy to pick the winners. So here is the bigger number.

Thousands of CHCK-graded cards have gone on to PSA. Across that set, the average gap between the CHCK grade and the PSA grade that came back is about half a point.

That is an average, not a promise on any single card. Surface scratches that hide under glare, a print line a phone camera cannot see, gloss loss, a chip on an edge. Any of those can move a grade. A CHCK grade is a pre-grade built to predict how a card is likely to come back, not a substitute for the slab. It is there to tell you, before you pay for the slab, whether the card is worth submitting.

The fee and the wait

Here is what sending a card to PSA looks like this week, straight from their service page:

  • Standard: $59.99, 90 to 100 business days. That is 18 to 20 weeks.
  • Regular: $79.99, 70 to 80 business days
  • Express: $199, 20 to 30 business days
  • Every Value tier: currently unavailable

The fee is the same whether the card comes back a 10 or a 6. A submission that returns no grade at all can still be charged.

Now CHCK. A Pro plan is $29 a month for 50 grades, which works out to 58 cents a grade. A grade takes about 90 seconds from two photos: front and back, card out of the sleeve, even light. You get the grade, the four sub-grades, measured centering, a damage map, and a public certificate you can send anyone.

And through September 30, your Pro subscription is on us! New and existing members both, 50 grades, nothing charged today. Claim it and you are also in the draw for the Ohtani. Details on the giveaway post.

So the comparison on one card is roughly this:

  • PSA Standard: $59.99 and 18 to 20 weeks to learn the grade
  • CHCK: 58 cents and 90 seconds to learn, on average, where it will land

Do the division and it comes out to about 100 times cheaper, and on the 18-week floor about 120,000 times faster.

Why this is not "skip PSA"

A PSA slab still does something a CHCK certificate does not. It is the label the market pays a premium for, and if a card deserves it, sending it in is the right call.

The problem was never the slab. The problem is paying $60 and waiting five months to find out a card was a 7 the whole time.

That is the gap CHCK fills. Run the card first. If it comes back a 9 or better with the centering to match, the submission fee is money well spent. If it comes back a 7, you just saved the fee, the wait, and the shipping, and you can sell it raw with the certificate attached.

And if you would rather not send it at all, the certificate does the talking. Every CHCK grade comes with a shareable link. Drop it in your eBay listing, your DMs, or a trade thread, and the buyer sees the grade, the sub-grades, the centering and the damage map for themselves instead of taking your word for it. Proof beats promises.

Every CHCK certificate already does this math for you. It prices the card at raw, PSA 9 and PSA 10, subtracts the grading fee, shipping and selling costs, and tells you whether grading pays. Two more receipts, both back from PSA.
